Enabling/Disabling the FKEU (XMOD) Interface

This procedure applies only to the 4610SW, 4620/4620SW, 4621SW, 4622SW, and 4625SW IP
Telephones, which have a feature key expansion module (FKEU) interface jack. The interface
jack provides connection for a button module, also called an expansion unit. This procedure
enables or disables the FKEU protocol. To attach and use an expansion module with any of the
telephones listed, the FKEU (XMOD) interface must be enabled.
1. While the telephone is on-hook and idle, press the following sequence of keys on the
faceplate of the telephone:
Mute 3 5 3 8 # (Mute F K E U#)

Press the Mute button momentarily. Do not press this button while pressing other

keys/buttons. Pressing the Hold button instead of the Mute button also works.
One of the following texts displays left-justified at the top of the display, depending on the
current value of the system parameter NVXMOD:

2. Press the 1 or 0 button to enable or disable the expansion module interface respectively, or
the # button to leave the current value. The following text displays left-justified at the top of
the display:
