Alarm system
When the alarm is armed, it continually moni-
tors all alarm inputs.
The alarm is triggered if:
a door, the bonnet or tailgate opens
a non-approved key is used in the ignition
or if an attempt is made to force the lock.
a movement is detected in the passenger
compartment (if fitted with a movement
detector)
the car is raised or towed away (if fitted
with a tilt detector).
a battery cable is disconnected.
anyone tries to disconnect the siren.
Alarm indicator
A red LED on the instrument panel indicates
the alarm system's status:
LED not lit – the alarm is not armed.
The LED flashes once every other second
– Alarm is armed.
The LED flashes rapidly after disarming the
alarm and until the ignition is switched on
– the alarm has been triggered.
If there is a fault in the alarm system, a message
appears on the display. Contact an authorised
Volvo workshop.
05 Locks and alarm
NOTE
Do not attempt to repair or modify alarm
system components. All such attempts
could affect the terms of insurance.
Arming the alarm
Press the LOCK button. A long flash from
the car's direction indicators confirms that
the alarm is armed and that all the doors
are locked.
IMPORTANT
The alarm is fully armed when the car's
direction indicators have made one long
flash and the LED on the instrument panel
flashes once every other second.
Disarming the alarm
Press the remote control's UNLOCK but-
ton. Two short flashes from the car's direc-
tion indicators confirm that the alarm has
been deactivated.
If the remote control batteries are discharged
then the alarm can be disarmed by turning the
ignition key to position II.
