The red distance warn-
ing lamp lights up while
the vehicle is in motion.
A warning tone also
sounds.
Possible causes/consequences and M M Solutions
Leave the vehicle and keep a safe distance from the vehicle until
X
the engine has cooled down.
Check the coolant level and add coolant, observing the warning
X
notes ( page 315).
Y
If you need to add coolant more often than usual, have the
X
engine coolant system checked.
Make sure that the air supply to the engine radiator is not
X
blocked, e.g. by snow, slush or ice.
At coolant temperatures below 248 ‡ (120 †), drive to the
X
nearest qualified specialist workshop.
Avoid subjecting the engine to heavy loads, e.g. driving in moun-
X
tainous terrain, and stop-and-go traffic.

You are approaching a vehicle, a pedestrian or a stationary obsta-
cle in your line of travel at too high a speed.
Be prepared to brake immediately.

Pay careful attention to the traffic situation. You may have to
X
brake or take evasive action.
