Troubleshooting
Cannot access the built-in memory
- There is a problem with the built-in memory. Contact a Canon Service Center.
Cannot communicate with the battery pack. Continue using this battery pack?
- You attached a battery pack that is not recommended by Canon for use with this camcorder.
- If you are using a battery pack recommended by Canon for use with this camcorder, there may
be a problem with the camcorder or battery pack. Consult a Canon Service Center.
Cannot convert

- Cannot access the memory card. Check the memory card and make sure it is inserted
correctly.
- You inserted a MultiMedia Card (MMC) into the camcorder. Use a recommended memory card
(A 32).
- There was an error creating the file name. Set
the memory card (A 35) or delete all the photos (A 123) and converted SD movies (A 92).
Cannot copy
- The total size of the scenes you selected to copy exceeds the available space on the memory
card. Delete some recordings on the memory card (A 92, 123) or reduce the number of
scenes to copy.
- The memory card already contains the maximum number of scenes (3,999 scenes). Delete
some scenes (A 92) to free some space.
- The gallery already contains the maximum number of stories (98 stories in any one given
memory). Delete some stories (A 94) to free some space.
Cannot divide the scene. Initialize only using the camcorder.
- Use the supplied software VideoBrowser to save the scene and divide it on the computer.
Cannot enter standby mode now
- The camcorder cannot enter standby mode if the remaining battery charge is too low. Charge
or replace the battery pack (A 19).
Cannot load canvas
- The canvas file that was saved on the memory is corrupted.
- Canvas data cannot be read from canvas files created using other devices and then transferred
to a memory card connected to the computer.
Cannot play back
- If a memory card was recorded on with another device and then the LOCK switch was set to
prevent writing, gallery information cannot be accessed correctly so playback is not possible
from the gallery screen. Play back scenes from the date index screen or change the position of
the LOCK switch on the memory card.
- There is a problem with the memory. If this message appears often without apparent reason,
contact a Canon Service Center.
Cannot play back Cannot access the built-in memory
- There is a problem with the built-in memory. Save your recordings (A 127) and initialize the
built-in memory using the [Complete Initialization] option (A 35). If the problem persists,
contact a Canon Service Center.
Cannot play back Check the memory card
- There is a problem with the memory card. Save your recordings (A 127) and initialize the
memory card using the [Complete Initialization] option (A 35). If the problem persists, use a
different memory card.
Cannot play the movies in the built-in memory Initialize only using the camcorder
- The camcorder's built-in memory was initialized using a computer. Initialize the built-in memory
with this camcorder (A 35).
