Description
PPPoE (PPP over Ethernet). Your Internet connection uses PPP
over Ethernet.
PPPoA (PPP over ATM). Your Internet connection uses PPP over
ATM.
Enter the login name that you use to log in to your Internet service, as
indicated by your ISP.
This login name is often an email address.
Enter the password that you use to log in to your Internet service, as
indicated by your ISP.
Enter the service name that you use to log in to your Internet service,
as indicated by your ISP.
Often, a service name is not required.
Note
This field does not display if your selection from the En-
capsulation menu is PPPoA (PPP over ATM).
Select how the Internet connection functions:
Always On. Once the Internet connection is established, it remains
active. This is the default setting.
Dial on Demand. When someone attempts to connect to the
Internet, the Internet connection is established. When the idle
time-out period expires, the Internet connection is terminated.
Manually Connect. You must connect to the Internet manually
(see
View or Change a TCP/IP Internet Connection

If you select Dial on Demand from the Connection Mode menu, enter
the idle time-out period in minutes.
The idle time-out specifies how long the modem router keeps the
Internet connection active when no one on the network is using the
Internet connection. The default is 5 minutes. To disable the idle
time-out, enter 0. (When you disable the idle time-out, the connection
is not terminated automatically).
