4.6.2 STS-N / STM-N optical modules replacement procedure

This replacement procedure is applicable to all STS-N / STM–N optical modules (SFP and XFP plug-in) of
the Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-320 equipment (refer to
1) Select the Rack xx > Shelf xx > Board x > Module x > from the tree area as shown in

2) Set the parameter values displayed in the UP > Rack xx > Shelf xx > Board xx > Module xx>
panel.
3) Click Save to set the new parameter values.
4) Click Remove to re-set existing parameter values.
5) Check that the traffic is OK and then proceed as follows:
6) Remove all cables from the front side of the optical module (if necessary, use the appropriate
extractor).
7) Remove the unit showing the red "status LED" on and replace it with a new spare unit.
8) Plug in the new optical module and connect the cables on the front side (if necessary use the appro-
priate extractor).
9) Wait until the automatic download is finished and the "status LED" of the new unit becomes green.
