Coupler Systems
Your engine comes equipped with the Lenz-style coupler (See Below). Also included is
the Fine Scale European coupler.

To adjust the Lenz-style Coupler for more efficient operating of your locomotive while
on the track, you may have to change the length of the coupler. To do this, remove the
pin then slide the coupler forward or backward, then reinsert the pin into whichever slot
allows for better operation.

NOTE:
The software code used to operate the Lenz-style electrical couplers is different
than the software code used for the MTH Proto-Coupler. If your model came equipped
with the Lenz-style coupler DO NOT install an MTH Proto-Coupler without updating
the DSP code. Like wise if your model came equipped with an MTH Proto-Coupler,
DO NOT install the Lenz-style coupler without updating the DSP code. Damage may
occur to the coupler or the PS 3.0 board. If you desire to change the type of electrically
operated coupler on your locomotive, you can load the appropriate DSP Code for the
new coupler using the MTH DCS control system and a PC.. You will need a TIU
running software version 4.20 or higher and the Consumer Loader version 2.3 or higher.
