Many problems have a simple cause and a correspondingly simple solution. The following section describes a few
difficulties you may encounter, and the measures you need to take to cure them. If you find it impossible to solve a
problem with the help of these notes please disconnect the unit from the mains and ask your authorised  specialist
dealer for advice.
Machine does not switch
on (Display does not light
up).
The screen displays the
message 'No Disc' when
you close the CD drawer.
CD
playback
stops
'jumps'.
Loud humming noise from
the loudspeakers.
No sound when playing a
CD, or PCM signals at the
digital input
Trouble shooting
Cause 1:
Mains leads not plugged in correctly.
Remedy:
Check connection, push connector in firmly.
Cause 1:
CD not inserted correctly.
Remedy:
Place CD centrally in the drawer, printed face up.
Cause 2:
CD dirty.
Remedy:
Clean disc and insert again.
Cause 3:
CD damaged in the Table of Contents (TOC) area.
Remedy:
No remedy; the CD is unusable.
Cause 4:
The CD player has become very cold (e. g. in transit) and condensation has
formed on the laser sensor optics.
Remedy:
Allow the unit to warm up for about an hour in a warm, well ventilated location.
or
Cause 1:
CD damaged or dirty.
Remedy:
Clean CD. A damaged CD cannot be repaired!
Cause 2:
The CD uses a copy protection system which does not conform to the CD-
Audio standard (Red Book Standard)
Remedy:
Take back the CD to the dealer and ask for a proper CD according to the
general CD standard.
Cause:
Poor contact between the Cinch plugs and sockets, or a faulty Cinch cable.
Remedy:
Please check all connections and cables thoroughly.
Cause 1:
Only the DSD (All Format Out) output of the PDP 3000 HV is connected to the
amplifier, but the operating mode is set to DSD / PCM.
Remedy:
Change the output configuration in the System Configuration menu to
DSD + PCM
Cause 2:
The input for the PCM connection is not selected at the amplifier.
Remedy:
Switch the amplifier to the input to which the PCM output of the PDP 3000 HV
is connected
