Vehicle Care
This vehicle was filled at the factory
with dexos-approved engine oil.
Caution
Use only engine oil that is
approved to the dexos
specification or an equivalent
engine oil of the appropriate
viscosity grade. Engine oils
approved to the dexos
specification will show the dexos
symbol on the container. Failure
Caution (Continued)
to use the recommended engine
oil or equivalent can result in
engine damage not covered by
the vehicle warranty. If you are
unsure whether the oil is
approved to the dexos
specification, ask your service
provider.
SAE 5W-30 is the best viscosity
grade for the vehicle. SAE 0W-30,
0W-40, or 5W-40 can also be used.
Do not use other viscosity oils such
as SAE 10W-30, 10W-40,
or 20W-50.
In an area of extreme cold, where
the temperature falls below -29°C
(-20°F), an SAE 0W-30 oil should
be used. An oil of this viscosity
grade will provide easier cold
starting for the engine at extremely
low temperatures. When selecting
an oil of the appropriate viscosity

grade, be sure to always select oil
that meets the required
specification.
Engine oil life system
This vehicle has a computer system
that indicates when to change the
engine oil and filter. This is based
on engine revolutions, engine
temperature and mileage. Based on
driving conditions, the mileage at
which an oil change is indicated can
vary considerably. For the oil life
system to work properly, the system
must be reset every time the oil is
changed.
When the system has calculated
that oil life has been diminished, it
indicates that an oil change is
necessary. A change engine oil
lamp displays. Change the oil as
soon as possible within the next
1,000 km (600 miles). It is possible
that, if driving under the best
conditions, the oil life system might
indicate that an oil change is not
necessary for up to a year. The
engine oil and filter must be
