Set the choke knob (4):
g if the engine is cold
e for warm start – also use this posi-
tion if the engine has been running
but is still cold.
N
Press the fuel pump bulb (5) at least
five times.

Cranking
N
Place the unit on the ground so that
it is secure.
N
Put your right foot in the handle
frame and press down.
N
Left hand on the handle frame.
N
Pull the starter grip slowly with your
right hand until you feel it engage
and then give it a brisk strong pull.
Do not pull out the starter rope all
the way – it might otherwise
break.
N
Do not let the starter grip snap back.
Guide it slowly back into the housing
so that the starter rope can rewind
properly.
N
Continue cranking.
When the engine begins to fire:
N
Turn the choke knob to e.
N
Continue cranking until the engine
runs.
As soon as the engine runs
N
Blip the throttle trigger (2) – the slide
control (3) moves to the run
position F and the engine settles
down to idling speed.
Since the auger brake is still
engaged, the engine must be
returned to idling speed
immediately – or the clutch might
otherwise be damaged.
