. CRANKCASE/CRANKSHAFT/KICK
STARTER/TRANSMISSION

CRANKCASE REMOVAL

The following parts must be removed before
removing the crankcase:
• Cylinder head (Refer to Section 6.)
• Cylinder/piston (Refer to Section 7.)
• Alterantor/cam chain tensioner (Refer to
Section 8.)
• Clutch/gear shift mechanism (Refer to
Section 9.)
Turn the engine so that the left crankcase is
facing up.
Remove the eight crankcase attaching bolts.
Lay the crankcase on the right side.
Remove the snap ring on the kick starter
spindle.
Remove the spring retainer and spring.
Lay the crankcase on the left side.
Separate the right and the left crankcase
halves.
Remove the gasket and dowel pins.
