Air Cleaner Assembly

Removal and Installation
See Figures 3-10 and 3-11.
• Do not open the air cleaner assembly for
inspection or cleaning. Unnecessary removal
of the filter increases the risk of injecting dust
and other impurities into the engine.
• Removal and service of the filter element is
required when the air service indicator light
comes on during normal operation.
• Do not remove air filter with engine running.

NOTES
• The air cleaner on this engine is a dry type; never
apply oil to it.
1. Park the mower safely. (See "Park Mower Safely" on
page 1-6.)

2. Release the spring clips (3) and remove the air
cleaner end cover (1) from the housing (2).
3. Using damp, lint-free cloths, thoroughly clean the
inside of the end cover including the dust evacuator
(4).

4. Pull the primary (5) and secondary (6) air filter
elements free of the housing (2). Using damp lint-free
cloths, clean the inside of the filter housing.
5. Inspect the air cleaner intake hose (7) and turbo
intake hose (8) for wear, damage, and cracks.
Replace all damaged hoses. Be sure hose clamps
(9) secure the hoses without leaks.
6. Inspect the new filter elements. Do not use a

damaged element.
7. Install the new primary and secondary filter
elements, making sure they are properly seated in
the housing.
8. Install the end cover with the dust evacuator facing
down, and slightly towards front of mower. Secure
with spring clips.
