Checking the tire air pressure

Correct tire air pressure ensures optimal riding comfort and maximum tire service life.

Checking the spoke tension

A loose spoke causes wheel imbalance and rapidly leads to more loose spokes.
If the spokes are too tight, they can break due to local overload.
Check the spoke tension regularly, especially on a new motorcycle.
Change the tire.
Check the tire age.

The tire manufacture date is usually included in the tire identification num-
ber and comprises the last four digits of the DOT code. The first two digits
indicate the week of manufacture and the last two digits the year of manu-
facture.
KTM recommends that the tires be changed after 5 years at the latest,
regardless of the actual state of wear.

If the tire is older than five years:
Change the tire.
Remove the dust cap.
Check the tire air pressure when the tires are cold.

Briefly strike each spoke with the tip of a screwdriver.

The tone frequency depends on the length of the spoke and the spoke diam-
eter.
If you hear different tone frequencies from different spokes of equal length
and diameter, this is an indication of different spoke tensions.
You should hear a high note.
