Manual Focus

You might need to focus manually under
certain conditions.
1. Set POWER to CAMERA MAN and
DSC/VIDEO switch to VIDEO.
2. Rotate the zoom lever to T to zoom in
on the subject and center the subject
in the viewfinder or on the LCD
monitor.
3. Press the menu PUSH dial in to
display the menu in the viewfinder or
on the LCD monitor. FOCUS is
highlighted.

4. Press the menu PUSH dial in to
display the FOCUS menu.

5. Rotate the menu PUSH dial to
highlight MANU and press the dial in.

6. Adjust the focus for a subject nearer or
farther away.
• Rotate the menu PUSH dial up to
focus on a subject farther away.

7. Press the menu PUSH dial twice to
remove the menus.
Notes: To return to auto focus, select
AUTO in the FOCUS menu or set the
POWER switch to CAMERA AUTO.
Conditions Requiring Manual Focus
• When recording a subject through a
window or when scene is affected by
sunbeams or light reflecting off water.
• When recording a subject having a
close foreground and a background that
is far away.
• When recording in low-light situations.
• When recording two subjects at
different distances that overlap in the
same scene.
• When recording a subject with no
contrast (such as a clear blue sky).
• When the subject is not in the center of
the scene.
• When recording a scene with fast
motions, like a tennis swing.
