    Arcam DiVA DV79. The remote control handset supplied with the equipment is also described. It may be that the DV79 has been installed and set-up as part of your Hi-Fi installation by a qualifi ed Arcam dealer. In this case, you may wish to skip the sections of this handbook dealing with installation and setting up the unit, and move directly to the sections dealing with using the player.

    DVD-R/RW and CD-R/RW discs (Audio CDs and Video CD/Super VCDs) recorded using a DVD recorder, CD recorder or personal computer may not play in the DV79. This may be caused by a number of possibilities, such as the type of disc used and the type of recording.

    The HDMI interface If you have a HDMI- or DVI-equipped monitor or display, you can connect it to the DV79 using a HDMI cable. The HDMI connector carries uncompressed digital video, as well as digital audio. About HDMI HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) supports both video and audio on a single digital connection for use with DVD players, digital TV, set-top boxes, and other AV devices.

    Select to force the DV79 into DVI mode even when a HDMI device is detected; select If you are not using the HDMI capabilities of the DV79, then it does not matter which way this item is set. Remote type This informs the player which type of remote control you are using, so that the player can take into account the slight differences between the remote types.

    This is known as ‘plug and play’. The DV79 can be confi gured for plug and play, or not; this depends on the ‘Output Priority’ setting, described below. If the DV79 is confi gured for plug and play, and the display device cannot handle some of the options described below, then the options shown will be restricted to just the ones applicable to the attached device.

    150 milli seconds. The amount of correction required in a given system is best determined by experimentation. If the interlaced video outputs of the DV79 are in use and the display is converting the signal to progressive scan then we recommend a delay of 50–80ms, depending upon the display.
