BEFORE OPERATION
Turning the power on and off
Press the POWER button. The display lights and the STANDBY indicator
goes out. "WELCOME!"
scrolls on the display.
To turn off the power, press the POWER button again. llre STANDBY
indicator lights and "GOOD-BYE!"
scrolls. The clock display remains lit.

When the mains lead is connected to the AC outlet, the STANDBY
indicator lights and the unit will respond to commands from the
remote control. "HELLO!" scrolls at intervals of 15 seconds.
Graphic display
Below indication appears or scrolls on the display for a few seconds when
corresponding operation button is pressed.

Selecting the function
Press the desired function button (CD, TAPE, TUNEFVBAND or AUX). The
selected function mode appears on the display.
The function is automatically selected when CD play or tape playback is
started by using the remote control, or when the RANDOM button has
been pressed,

When the function selection is changed, CD play, tape playback or
I
recording is automatically stopped.

When "CD'
or
"TUNER" is selected, the clock display disappears. To
display the clock, press the CLOCK button. Press it again to return the
original display.
Adjusting the volume
Turn the VOLUME control or press the "+" or "-" VOL button on the
remote control. The pointer indication turns and the current volume level
IS displayed In the VOL part on the display.
To reduce the volume temporarily
(muting)
Press the MUTE button on the remote control. The VOL level display
blinks. The volume is restored to its previous level by pressing the same
button again.

The muting function will be retained for a few days, even if the unit is
turned off or the mains Iaad is disconnected.
Selecting the sound effect
Press the LIVE/ON STAGE button on the remote control to display the
desired sound effect.
LIVE:
A "wide" effect is created

The LIVE sound effect cannot be activated while you are
listening to monaural sound.
ON STAGE:
A "vocal fader" effect is created
-
The ON STAGE effect cannot work correctly with monaural
sound or some types of recordings.
None: Normal sound

Press tfw BASSXPANDER
button to enhance the bass sound. "BASS"
appears sm the display.

frequency
response of the music heard.

Each time the DISPfAY button is pressed, the display mode changes as
follows:
Bar-graph - Peek hold - Peak dots - Shower - Square -

If the DISPIAY
button is pressed for 3 or more seconds, the display
entars the demonstration
mode. "DEMO WELCOMEI'*
scrolis, then
the bar-graph
display, peak hold display, etc. will sequentially ap-
pear. To cancel this mode, press the button again.

Press the POWER button to turn the power off.

character "H" bfinks on the display.
Turn the VOLUME control until the "M" blinks.
Press the ~
NR button. The next character "E' blinks,
Turn the VOLUME control until the "5" blinks.
Press the M
NR button. "'L" blinks.
Turn the VOLUME control until the "_" blinks.
Press the ~
NR button.
Repeat steps 7-8.
Up to 8 characters can be entered.
"WELCOME!"
characters can also be changed in the same way by using
the MODE button instead of the ~
NR button.
WHAT
TO DO IF . ..
If the operation of the unit or display is not normal or when all the memory
contents are to be cleared, disconnect the mains lead from the AC outlet,
then press the RESHbutton
(rear of the unit) for20 seconds or more (Fig.
8).
