CD PLAY
Use compact discs bearing the symbol shown in Fig. 9. In addition to
conventional 12 cm CDs, this system can be used to play 8 cm CDs
without an adapter.

Press the CD button to select "CD". "NO dlSC' appears on the
display.
Press the CD TRAY button.
The panaSopens, the disc tray slides out and "OPEN" appears on the
display.
Place the disc with the label facing upon the disc tray (Fig. 10).
Press the CD TRAY button to close the disc tray.
The total number of tracks, total playtime and whole track numbers on
the disc are displayed.
If the diic contains 16 or more tracks," F" appears on the right of
the "15" indication.

Press the PANEL button to close the panel if required.

" D" appears, and play starts from the first track.
The track number and elapsed play time for the current track are
displayed.

on button while the tray is still open, it will
close, and play will begin automatically.
Press the •l
button to end disc play.
The total number of tracks and total play time are displayed.
When the last track has been played, the player stops automatically.
When the CD TRAY button is pressed during play, play will stop and
the disc tray will slide out.
When turning the power off, the disc tray and panel close automati-
cally.
Notes on handling
compact
discs
Do not expose the-disc to" direct sunlight
high humidity or high
temperatures for extended periods of time.
Discs should be returned to their cases after use.
Do not apply paper or write anything on the disc surface.
Handle the disc by its edge. Do not touch the playing surface (glossy
side).
Fingerprints and dust should be carefully wiped off the playing
surface of the disc with a soft cloth.
Wipe in a straight motion from the centre to the outside of the disc.
Never use chemicals such as record cleaning sprays, antistatic sprays

or fluids, benzene or thinner to clean compact discs.
Temporarily
stopping
play
Press the CD D/00
button. " E" blinks on the display. To resume play,
press the button again.
Direct track selection
By using the remote control, play can be started immediately from the
desired track. While a disc is playing, it is possible to switch immediately
to a particular track.
Select "CD" first.
Examples:
To start from track 3 on the disc, press the 3 button.
To start from track 10, press +1 O, then O.
To start from track 25, press +1 O twice, then 5.
Skip play
To skip to track 6 while track 3 is playing, press the
D/

CD button
repeatedly until "6" appears in TRACK on the display.
To skii back to track 3 while track 6 is playing, press the M
/ @
CD
button repeatedly until '"3" appears.

Tha JOG DIAL control can also be used for setting the track number.
Search
(forward/reverse)
If the
QD / ~
or M
/ ~
CD button is pressed during play, the
player will search at high apeed in the forward or reverse direction while
the button is being pressed. When the button is released, normal play will
continue.
Random
play
Preae the RANDOM button to begin random play. The player will auto-
matically select and play tracks on the disc at random. "RANDOM"
appears on the display.

tfthe RANDOM button is pressed during random play, the player will
select the next random track.
Repeat play
Preae the REPEAT button during play. The player will play all the tracks,
all the programmed
tracks or all the random play tracks repeatedly,
"REPEAT" appears on the display.
To cancel repeat play, press the REPEAT button again. "REPEAT"
disappears.
Time display selection
PresatheTIME
button repeatedly during play. The display changes in the
following sequence:
Remaining time for the current track
Remaining time for the entire disc (During programmed play, remain-
ing time for all programmed tracks)
flapsed time for the current track
The display returns to "elapsed time" after 10 seconds.

In the stop mode, the total playtime on the disc is displayed.
