Automatic Music Select System
(AMSS)
Press the w or ~ AMSS button during playback. The deck will enter
the fast wind mode to skip to the beginning of the desired selection, then
return to the play mode. While the tape is winding, the F or < indicator
blinks.
Any one selection of up to 9 selections in both forward and reverse
directions can be searched.
During forward playbaclc
Press the * or ~ button once (" 1" or "1 " appears on the
display), the start of the next selection or the selection currently playing is
found.
Selection will be skipped as many times as the button is pressed. The
display will show how many selections to be skipped. Then the display
will be changed to smaller numbers whenever the selection ia skipped.

During reverse playback:
Press the w or 44 button once (" <1" or"1 < " appears), the start
of the selection currently playing or the next selection is found.
Selection will be skipped as many times as the button is pressed.
Note:
When the tape has been wound to the end, the deck stops automati-
cally.
Unrecorded blanks lasting at least 4 seconds are required for proper
AMSS oparation.
If the system ia being used near a TV, the AMSS may not function
proper~ due to the e~ect of the signalsfrom the TV. If t~is is the case,
either switch off the TV, or use the system at the distance from the TV.
Fast forward and rewind
1.
Press the button to stop the tape at any time.
2. Press the w or 44 TAPE button. The or < indicator blinks.
When the tape has been wound to the end, the deck stops automati-
cally.

back rasults by suppressing tape hiss by up to 10 dB for virtually noise
free recordings.

Listening to preset stations
1. SAeot the band.
2. press one of the 1-10 buttons on the remote control, or the PRES!3
button
to select the desired preset number.
- For reoeiving an FM stereo broadcast, make sure that "MONO" is not
&splayed. If "MONO" appears, press the MODE button on the remote
cswrtrol to turn the "MONO" indication off.
"STEREO" appears whan an FM stereo broadcast ia received.
- Ifthe signals from an FM stereo station are weak and reception is poor,
press the MODE button on the remote control to change to monaural
reception. ("STEREO is replaced by "MONO" in the display.)
- If a preset number which has not been preset is selected,"- -,--" (or
- ---") appears for 2 seconds and the previous station is selected.

Clearing the memory
1. Salect the preset number to be cleared aa described in "Listening to
preset stations".
2. Press the MEMORY button, then press the SEf/CLEAR button.
Note:
- When presetting a new station, the previously preset station on the
same number of the same band is cleared.
- The preset stations will be retained in the memory even if the unit is
turned off.
If the memory contents are lost due to a power failure or other
condition, preset the stationa again.
