Installing the Novell NetWare v4.11 Network
Operating System
Note:
System, you should have your LAN adapter(s) connected to
the LAN network(s). This allows the install process visibility
to other servers and Directory Services already installed.
1. Insert the NetWare 4.11 CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
2. Change your working drive to the drive letter that points to the CD-ROM
drive. (The steps to follow assume the CD-ROM drive is associated with
Drive R, which is used as an example in these procedures).
3. Type: R: and press ENTER.
4. Type: install and press ENTER.

the correct language you want installed and press ENTER.
5. At the "Novell Terms and Conditions" menu, press ENTER four times to
continue.
6. Highlight "NetWare Server Installation" from the "Select the type of
installation desired" menu and press ENTER.
7. Highlight "NetWare 4.11" from the "NetWare Installation Utility" menu and
press ENTER.
8. Highlight "Simple Installation of NetWare 4.11" and press ENTER.
9. Name the File Server. (See Table 3-2.) Give the file server a unique name
using up to 298 alphanumeric characters, hyphens, and underscores (spaces
are not allowed).

10. Press ENTER to begin copying the server boot files to the hard disk. If you
see messages stating that drivers were found in the startup directory, but
were not updated, ignore them. These files do not need to be updated.
11. At the "Do you want to install Symmetrical Multi-Processing Netware
(SMP)?" prompt, select No (single processor unit only), and press ENTER.
12. You should now be in a menu labeled "Choose the Platform Support Module
(PSM) Driver." Using the arrow keys, highlight the appropriate PSM driver
and press ENTER.
