Procedure 3-6 Configuring the serial ports

1 Ensure that the browser is displaying the Configuration page (if not refer to Procedure 3-3).
2 From within the Serial Port section select the Edit button of the first serial port to be configured.
A Serial Port detail page is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-10.
3 Enter a Name for the serial port.
4 Select the required Mode from the drop down menu. All 4 ports can be configured as RS-232
while only port 2 can also be configured as RS-422 4-wire or RS485 2-wire multidrop. The
default setting is RS-232.
5 Select the required Application from the drop down menu, the options are PTZ Control or
Text Input. The default setting is PTZ Control.
Note
Unless an external converter is to be used, PTZ control can only be used with serial port 2.
6 Select the required port Baud Rate from the drop down menu. The default value is 9600.
7 Select the required Data Bits from the drop down menu. The options available are 7 or 8. The
default value is 8.
8 Select the required Stop Bits from the drop down menu. The options available are 1 or 2. The
default value is 1.
9 Select the required Parity from the drop down menu. The options available are None, Even or
Odd. The default setting is None.
10 Select the required Flow Control from the drop down menu. The options available are None or
RTS/CTS. The default setting is None.
11 Select Done to return to the main configuration page.
12 Repeat this procedure for all other serial ports that have to be configured.
