Printing via the LPD Protocol

The installation sequence requires the following entries:
Box in SMIT
Name of QUEUE
Destination HOST
Name of QUEUE for remote
printer
Before installation, make sure that:
! The IP address has been saved in the print server.
! The host name has been assigned to the IP address.
! The print server is connected, and the printer is turned on.
Proceed as follows:
1. Log on as root.
2. Start SMIT.
3. Select the following menu commands in the order shown
below:
'Devices'
'Printer/Plotter'
'Manage Remote Printer Subsystem'
'Client Services'
'Remote Printer Queues'
'Add Remote Queue'
4. Enter the following parameters into the screen mask:
Example: Name of QUEUE
Queuing DISCIPLINE
ACTIVATE the queue?
Destination HOST
Pathname SHORT FILTER
Pathname LONG FILTER
Name of QUEUE for remote printer [lp1]
User input
<arbitrary name> of print
queue
<host name or IP address> of
the print server
lp1 to lp8 for the logical printer lp1
