Starry sky mode

Choose this setting to take clear pictures of
the night sky or other dark subjects. The
slow shutter speed makes the stars
sparkle.

n Setting the shutter speed
You can choose a shutter speed of 15, 30,
or 60 seconds.
1 Press e/r to select the shutter speed,
then press [MENU/SET].

• The countdown screen appears when you
press the shutter button. Do not move the
camera. After the countdown is finished,
[PLEASE WAIT···] is displayed for the
same amount of time as the shutter speed
you used. This is to process the signals.
• Press [MENU/SET] to stop taking the
picture while the countdown screen is
displayed.

n Technique for Starry sky mode
• The shutter opens for 15, 30 or 60
seconds. Due to the slow shutter speed,
use a tripod and the self-timer (P46) for
best results.
• The histogram is always orange. (P39)
• The Flash setting is fixed to Forced OFF
[v].
• The stabilizer function is fixed to [OFF].
(P49)
• The ISO sensitivity is fixed to [ISO100].
• You cannot use [CONT.AF] while in this
mode.
• You cannot use exposure compensation,
auto bracket mode, burst mode, or
recording audio.

Beach mode

This mode allows you to take pictures on a
beach. It prevents under exposure of the
subject under strong sunlight.

n Technique for Beach mode
• Use the flash.
• Do not touch the camera with wet hands.
• Sand or seawater may cause the camera
to malfunction. Make sure that sand or
seawater does not come in touch with the
camera, particularly its lens, flash or
terminals.
