THE SETUP MENU
Dynamic range describes the volume relationship among the soft and loud passages of sound
reproduction.
There are three possible settings:
LARGE:
STD:
SMALL:
Activate the SETUP MENU and select the menu item Dynamic Range.
The display will show Dynamic Range:

Using the keys VAL- (57) and VAL+ (58) select the desired setting.
With a large dynamic range, soft passages (whispering) are considerably
softer than the middle playback volume, and the loud passges
(explosions) are very loud. The setting LARGE almost corresponds to
playback in movie theaters.
Select this setting if you are able to set general volume at a level where
soft passages are still audible and loud passages are not distorted.
The setting STD corresponds to the common setting for playback at
home.
Select this setting, when there are no reaons for choosing LARGE or
SMALL.
With a small dynamic range, the soft passages are reproduced only
slightly less softly than the middle playback volume, the loud passages
only slightly louder.
Select the setting SMALL, when maximum playback volume should not
exceed a certain level, and soft passages should remain audible (late
night playback).
