8. Slide the new card reader with retainer into the drive bay until it snaps into position.

9. Reconnect the card reader cable to the front USB connector 2 on the system board. See "Locating
parts on the system board" on page 72.
10. Reinstall the front bezel. See "Removing and reinstalling the front bezel" on page 94.

Installing or replacing the front USB assembly

Attention: Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the Chapter
1 "Safety information" on page 1.
This section provides instructions on how to replace the front USB assembly.
Note: The front USB assembly is available only in some models.

Installing the front USB assembly

To install the front USB assembly, do the following:
1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect
all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 93.
3. Remove the front bezel. See "Removing and reinstalling the front bezel" on page 94.
4. Locate the card reader drive bay. See "Locating internal drives" on page 76.
