Grounding Using a good grounding system to protect your switch against lightning shocks, interferences, and ESD is essential to the operating reliability of your switch. Tighten the screws on the plug with a flat-blade screwdriver to secure the plug in the power receptacle (see callout 2 in Figure 34). Connect the two wires at the other end of the power cord to a –48 VDC power source. Check the power LED (PWR) on the front panel.

Troubleshooting TIP: Clean your switch periodically because the noncompliant operating environments of switches may cause switch failures. At the same time, check the installation environments against the requirements in “Preparing for installation.” Make sure the switch operates in a proper environment. Additionally, periodically perform the power-on test for the spare switches.
Interface failure Each interface has a corresponding LED. When an interface connected to the network works properly, the corresponding LINK LED is on. If the LED of an interface connected to the network is off, the interface or the connecting cable may fail. To troubleshoot the interface: Check whether the switch works properly.
