Setting Up VPI/VCI and QoS
After logging in to the DSL router, if no PVC is configured previ-
ously and no default settings exist, the Quick Setup webpage
will appear This contains some basic configuration that is needed
by ATM PVC. The following introduction guides you through the
necessary steps to configure your DSL Router.
Based on your ISP's instructions, specify the following parameters:
VP
ƒ
I (Virtual Path Identifier)- Virtual path between two points in
an ATM network. The valid value range is from 0 to 255.
VCI
ƒ
(Virtual Channel Identifier)- Virtual channel between two
points in an ATM network. The valid value range is from 32 to
65535 (1 to 31 are reserved for known protocols).
Enable Quality of Service
ƒ
performance for selected classes of applications. However,
since QoS also consumes system resources, the number of
PVCs are reduced consequently. Go to Advanced Setup >
Quality of Service to assign priorities for the applications.
Check the DSL Auto-connect box and then click Next.
If the ADSL connection is down, uncheck the DSL Auto-connect
and then click Next to manually assign the VPI and VCI values.
