Chip card: = SIM card
Direct dial key: A separate key, to which you assign a specific
phone number.
IMEI: (International Mobile Equipment Identifier) Unique identification
number for your mobile. The IMEI no. is on the outside of the box in
which you bought your phone or on a label in the battery compart-
ment. See page 100 to display this number on your phone.
Incoming call: A call received on your mobile.
Mailbox: An answering service which records messages, which you
can listen to on your mobile. These messages are saved on the com-
puter of your network operator until you listen to them.
Missed call: Your mobile rings but you did not take the call.
Network operator (provider): A company which gives you access to
the mobile phone network.
Outgoing call: A call made from your mobile.
PIN: (Personal Identification Number) Your personal code for your
SIM card, which is issued to you with your SIM card.
PUK: (Personal Unblocking Key) The number which unlocks a
blocked SIM card.
Reset: The function which resets the phone and its settings electroni-
cally to the factory settings.
SIM card: A plastic card with a tiny electronic memory (i.e. chip)
which gives you access to the services of your network provider (=
chip card).
SMS: (Short Message Service) Sending and receiving of text mes-
sages. SMS can be used colloquially to mean text messaging.
Speed dial key: A number key, to which you assign a specific phone
number (make a call by pressing and holding the key).
Text message: = SMS
