Things to Note
When the engine starts, check the following
points:
(a) That oil pressure is registered on gauge(s)
.
(b) That charging rate is indicated on ammeter/generator light goes out.
(c) That coolant is discharging overboard
.
Instruments (see Fig. 5)
These serve to give the operator important information about the running of the
engine, fuel state, temperature
etc.
Generally speaking instruments have not the accuracy that a laboratory meter has
and this should be borne in mind when reading them: nevertheless they may be used
to ensure correct functioning of the engine(s).
