1 Introduction
The NetUSB-400i is an industrial-strength network-based USB Server for connecting four USB
devices directly to the 10/100Mbps Ethernet network running TCP/IP. By adding this USB Server
to LAN, you can network-enable the USB devices and break the traditional five-meter USB cabling
distance limitation. By this implementation, USB devices connected to NetUSB-400i can be made
available to remote clients over LAN.

1.1 About this Manual
1.1.1 Type Styles
Slanted Words are used to denote text messages and option names as seen in the PC client soft-
ware.
Typewriter Style is used to show example user input for some dialogs.
Bold Face is used for those hardware components, which have their names printed on the case of
NetUSB-400i.
When a button or icon is mentioned in the text, sometimes it is displayed in the border area of the

1.1.2 Software Versions covered
As of time of writing this manual, the client software is in version 1.0.00.27, including support for
Windows 7 (beta status). The previous version 1.00.00.25 supports Windows XP and Vista only.
The latest firmware for NetUSB-400i is 1.0.00.44.
