    - CHAPTER 3 PRODUCT ASSEMBLY 3.1 INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS The challenge of product installation depends highly on the area in which the product will be used. Stairs, doorways and other obstacles must be considered in planning for product installation. Please ensure the safety of people and property in planning the installation of any product.
  • Page 11 Remove Left/Right Seat Support Covers STEP 1 1-1. First, loosen screws (41) and remove left and right seat support covers (11)(12). Note: the front seat support cover (11) has a hole for the gas spring. The rear seat support cover (12) does not have a hole for the gas spring.
  • Page 12 Install the Display STEP 2 2-1. Connect the data cable (42) to the display connector (2) as shown. Then tuck the remaining, visible part of the data cable into the pedestal. 2-2. Secure screws (43) to connect the display (2) to the pedestal (4). 2-3.
  • Page 13 Install the Display Pedestal STEP 3 3-1. Slide the pedestal collar (5) onto the pedestal (4). 3-2.Connect the upper and lower data cables (42)(46) as shown. 3-3. Put the pedestal in place on the unit frame (1). Then loosely secure screws and washers (47)(48)(49) in the following order: C, D, then E.
  • Page 14 Install the Seat Swivel Bracket STEP 4 4-1. Use round screws (56) to attach the seat bottom cushion (13) to the seat support (6). Please note the screw hole placement shown above. Letters F and G indicate attachment holes. 4-2. Pull the seat swivel lock handle (70) on the swivel bracket (16) as shown. This unlocks the swivel mechanism.
  • Page 15 4-4. Place the seat bottom with the seat support onto the swivel bracket as shown and secure it with screws (56) at holes (F). Refer to Figure 4-1 for hole (F) positions. 4-5. Use the swivel lock handle (70) to unlock the seat. Then rotate the seat to the right about 45 degrees, exposing two screw holes.
  • Page 16 Secure the Cup Holder STEP 5 5-1. Use screws and washers (51)(52)(53) to secure the seat back support (7) in place on the seat support. 5-2. Hold the cup holder (15) in place and secure it with screws (50) at the top. 5-3.
  • Page 17 Secure the Seat Back Cushion STEP 6 Before supplying power, locate the voltage specification sticker on the product. Make sure that product voltage specifications match the power supply in your area. 6. Use screws and washers (54)(55)(56) to secure the seat back cushion (8) onto the seat back support (7).

  • Page 19 Install Arm Mechanism Support Tubes STEP 8 8-1. Assemble the arm mechanism support tubes as follows. First, insert assembly arm (H) into the right support tube (22). Then put this arm onto the right support mount (73) on the product frame. Loosely secure screws and washers (71)(72) in place. Next, insert assembly arm (I) into the left arm support tube (23).
  • Page 20 8-2. Put the front support tube (25) in place. Then loosely secure screws and washers (71)(72) at area J. (Do not tighten these screws yet.) Then secure screws and washers (74)(75) in both left (22) and right (23) support tubes. Finally, fully secure screws in the center, area J, and on both sides, areas K and L.
  • Page 21 Install Handles STEP 9 9-1. Insert covers (17) onto left and right handles (19)(20) and secure them with screws (76). 9-2. Place the right handle arm (20) into the mount on the right support. Then insert the bushing (77) and secure the screws and washers (79)(80). 9-3.

Put covers (18) near the arm resistance adjustment knob in place and secure them with screws (41). Follow the same process (9-2 through 9-5) to assemble the left side as well.

  • Page 24 Adjust Seat Position STEP 11 Adjusting the seat position allows you to install rear leg covers. 11-1. Pull and hold the seat adjustment lever (57) to activate the gas spring. 11-2. The seat adjustment gas spring will move the seat up and back to its highest position.

  • Page 28 Level the Unit STEP 14 14-1. Place the XT50 Cross Trainer where it will be operated. Inspect it. Does it rock from side to side or from front to back? If so, level it. Rotate the leveler nut (61) down, making room for adjustments.
  • Page 29 Connect the Power Cord STEP 15 Before supplying power, locate the voltage specification sticker on the product. Make sure that product voltage specifications match the power supply in your area. 15-1. Insert the power cord (62) into the power socket (63) on the unit. Then plug the other end of the cord into an electric outlet with the appropriate power supply.

    4.1.1 Automatic Seat Adjustment The seat position of the SportsArt XT50 Cross Trainer can be adjusted automatically to suit people of different physical sizes. To adjust the seat position, simply lift the seat adjustment lever (57). The gas spring automatically activates. If there is no weight on the seat, the seat moves up.

    4.1.2 Manual Seat Height Adjustment In addition to automatic adjustments aided by the gas spring, a mechanical adjustment can be made to lower the seat position. This adjustment consists of changing the position at which the gas spring attaches to the frame. Note that the picture below shows two positions, O and P.

    4.1.3 Swivel Seat Adjustment The seat on the XT50 Cross Trainer swivels to allow easy entrance. The following explains how to operate this function. Pull the seat swivel lock handle (70) to allow the seat to rotate. Rotate the seat 45 degrees (as shown).

    4.1.4 Arm Resistance Adjustments Arm resistance can be adjusted by changing the gas spring position. This is done by adjusting the arm tension knobs and moving the handle arms. Please see instructions below. D-1. Twist the arm resistance knob counterclockwise to loosen it. D-2.

    Note: Throughout this manual, key names appear in all capital letters. 5.1.3 DISPLAY KEY OVERVIEW The XT50 Cross Trainer display shows illustrations of workout programs, including TRACK, RANDOM, INTERVAL, and HILL, along with helpful feedback, including RESISTANCE LEVEL, TIME, RPM, and CALORIES.

    The "start up screen" appears on the display after you turn on the power switch and start exercising. At the start up screen, the model number, XT50, appears. At this point, there are two ways to start your workout. Press either QUICK START or START.

    2. Weight - The WT indicator flashes. KG or LB lights up. KG indicates metric mode, which has a preset value of 75 KG. LB indicates US mode, which has a preset value 165 LB. Press ? and ? keys until your actual weight appears. Then press the ENTER key to confirm your choice and proceed to select an exercise program.

    "ENTER WORK TIME" scrolls across the screen. Time flashes. Press WORKOUT ▲ ▼ LEVEL keys to set your work time. Then press ENTER to confirm your choice. "ENTER WORK LEVEL" scrolls across the screen. Resistance flashes. Press ▲ ▼ WORKOUT LEVEL keys to set the resistance level.

    CHAPTER 6 GUIDELINES FOR EXERCISE 6.1 HOW LONG SHOULD I EXERCISE? The duration of your exercise session is dependent on your fitness level. In general, it is recommended that you maintain your heart rate in the training zone for at least ten minutes to realize an aerobic benefit.

    CHAPTER 7 MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING 7.1 MAINTENANCE Your SportsArt XT50 Cross Trainer was designed and constructed to provide years of trouble-free usage. However, all electro-mechanical products require some care. Simple maintenance, such as cleaning, can extend the life of this product.

    Hold these keys for three seconds. The display automatically erases user values. After the user time, distance, and calorie count values are erased, the display beeps three times. Then the user ID can be activated again. 7.1.4 SEEING INTERNAL SETTINGS An internal setting determines whether units of measure are in the metric standard, KG, or in the American standard, LB.

    7.2.2 INSPECTING AND REPLACING THE FUSE If the power supply is good, the power cord is connected properly, and the product on/off switch is in the "on" position, but the on/off switch and the display do not light, the fuse may be burnt. Follow instructions below to inspect and replace the fuse. 16-1.
