Changing the high and low beam bulbs

Before replacing a burnt-out bulb, make sure that the new
one complies with voltage and wattage as specified on
page , "Electric System", for that lighting device.
87Always check for new bulb proper operation before
refitting removed parts.
Figure fig. 66 shows the position of the low beam (LO),
high beam (HI) and parking light (1) bulbs.
Important
In the USA version, the position of the high and low
beam bulbs is reversed.
Headlamp
Remove the instrument panel (2) from the retaining rubber
elements (see page 56) to gain access to the upper bulb.
Rotate the locking ring nut (3) of the upper bulb body anti-
clockwise and extract the burnt-out bulb. Replace with a
bulb of equal rating.
On refitting, rotate the locking ring nut (3) clockwise to
secure the bulb in place.
To gain access to the lower bulb, remove the headlamp
fairing as described in paragraph "Removing the fairings"
on page 54 and unscrew the screws (5) to release the
bottom cover (4) of the headlamp support. Change the
bulb as described for upper bulb removal.
Note
Main wiring harness cable does not need to be
disconnected to replace the headlamp bulbs.
