How Do I Know When I Have A Chimney Fire?
Excessive amounts of smoke.
Embers falling down the chimney.
A roaring noise.
Brickwork around the chimney can be very hot.
What Should I Do If I Have A Chimney Fire?
Raise the alarm in the house to let others know.
Call the Fire Service.
Reduce t he b urning r ate o f t he fi re b y c losing d own t he t hroat r estrictor i n a c ontrolled w ay s o n ot t o l et f umes
discharge into the room.
Close any ventilation as much as possible.
Place t he s park g uard i n f ront o f t he fi re.
Move f urniture a nd r ugs a way f rom t he fi replace.
Feel the chimney breast in other rooms for signs of excessive heat.
Remember c himney fi res c an s pread t o t he r est o f t he p roperty a lways c all t he fi re s ervice -­ N ever t ackle a fi re
yourself.
Get Out – Stay Out
