screwdriver if necessary.

Install the Log Processing Card (LPC)

The Log Processing Card (LPC) is required to operate the chassis and must be installed in slot 8. The
LPC must also contain at least one AMC/drive. During normal operation, all four AMC/drives should
be installed in two RAID 1 pairs, which are automatically configured when all four drives are present
and the chassis is brought up for the first time. The LPC does not ship with the AMC/Drives installed,
so the LPC should be installed in the chassis first and then the AMC/Drives can then be installed into
the LPC.
When the PA-7050 is initially installed, you must allow enough time for drives to be formatted and put
into the RAID configuration before traffic can be processed and logged. The chassis will operate with
one drive, but there will be no drive redundancy.
Initial boot and system logs are stored on the embedded SSD on the Switch Management Card (SMC)
and traffic logs, threat logs, User-ID logs, and so on are stored on the LPC. Also, the auto-commit
function requires the LPC, so do not perform an upgrade of PAN-OS until the LPC is ready.
For information in verifying the drive status, see "Verify the LPC Configuration" on page 42.
For information about the LPC, see "LPC and AMC Component Descriptions" on page 20.
To install the LPC and AMC/Drives:
1.
Ensure that the chassis is powered off and that no power cords are connected.
