NPC Troubleshooting Commands

Table 16 describes common commands that you can use to troubleshoot NPC issues:
Table 16. CLI Commands to Troubleshoot NPC Issues
Purpose
Show the status of a slot.
Temporarily power on and off a
slot.
This will gracefully power off a
slot and will end sessions. You
can use this command to remove
an NPC.
Power off a slot using the admin-
power command.
When using this option, the slot
will stay powered off, even after
a chassis reboot.
Enable a slot, so the NPC can
start passing traffic.
Enable new NPCs on both
chassis in an HA configuration.

Command
Run the following to view all of the slots:
show chassis status
To view the status of one slot run:
show chassis status slot slot-number
For example, to check the status of slot 3, run the command:
show chassis status slot s3
To power off a slot:
request chassis power-off slot slot-number
To power on a slot:
request chassis power-on slot slot-number
To power off a slot:
request chassis admin-power-off slot slot-number
request chassis enable slot slot-number
To enable new NPCs after inserting them into the same slot numbers on
both chassis in an HA configuration: (Using slot 3 in this example)
request chassis power-on slot 3 target ha-pair
You can use the ha-pair option in an HA configuration for many of the
slot control commands.
