Installing Additional Ports

Installing Parallel Port / RS-232 Port Kit (4xxx)

When a touch screen device such as the 5963 12.1" Touch Screen or the
5953 12.1" DynaKey with touch screen is attached to the Series 4xxx
Motherboard, serial port C is consumed. Therefore, if the configuration
has a UPS and a touch screen device, only the two RS-232 ports on the
Motherboard are available. Ports can be added to the workstation. Kit
7452-K156 can be used to add a parallel port and an RS-232 port to a
Series 4xxx Motherboard.
Also described in a following section is kit 3030-K169 which can be
used to add four RS-232 ports to a 7452.
This section details the installation of parallel port/RS-232 port harness
kit 7452-K156 on a 4xxx workstation.
1. Slide the bracket end of the K156 Parallel Port/RS-232 Port Harness
into one of the expansion slots on the back of the cabinet.
2. Secure the bracket with a screw.
3. Plug the other end of the Parallel Port Harness into the Parallel
connector (J22) on the Series 4xxx Motherboard.
4. Plug the other end of the RS-232 Harness into the RS-232/3
connector (J23) on the Series 4xxx Motherboard.
