TROUBLESHOOTING

If you suspect a failure has occurred, check the situations described below. If your problem is
documented, take the corresponding appropriate action.

LEDs Error Messages

The LEDs on the front and rear of the Disk Expansion Unit and on the handles of the hard disks
notify you of a variety of states by displaying patterns (ON, blinking, OFF) and different colours.
If you suspect a failure has occurred, check the LEDs. See the section "LED Indications" for
more information.
Troubleshooting
If the Disk Expansion Unit does not operate as expected, check it according to the following
check list before contacting your service representative.
If your problem is documented in the list below, take the corresponding appropriate action and
refer, if necessary, to the User's Manual that comes with the NEC Express server or the User's
Guide that comes with the disk array controller.
If the Disk Expansion Unit still operates improperly, write down the message appearing on the
screen of the display unit and contact your service representative.
The Disk Expansion Unit does not power on.
θ Is power supplied to the Disk Expansion Unit?
→ Confirm that the power cord is connected to an AC outlet (or UPS) fitting to the
power rating of the Disk Expansion Unit.
→ Use the power cord that comes with the Disk Expansion Unit. In addition, check
that the coating of the power cord is not torn and that the plugs are not broken.
→ Check that the circuit breaker of the AC outlet to which the power cord is
connected is set to ON.
→ If the power cord is connected to an UPS, confirm that the UPS is powered on.
