Service the front cyli nder camshaft using the sa me proced u re as the rea r cyl i nder.
•
Remove the ca m chain tensioner before removi ng the camshaft.
•
The "T1 " ti m i n g ma rks on the sta rter cl utch a re for rea r cyl inder head service.
•
The "T2 " ti m i ng ma rks on the starter cl utch a re for front cyl i nder head service.
•
Be carefu l not to d rop pa rts i nto the e n g i ne ope n i ng .

Before loose n i ng, a l i g n the "T1 " (front cyli nder: "T2 " )
•
m a rk on the sta rter cl utch with the i n dex m a rk o n the
right cra n kcase cover, a nd m a ke s u re the No. 1 piston
(front cyl i n der: No. 4 pisto n ) is on com p ression stroke.
If it is not o n the com pression stroke, turn the cra n k-
shaft clockwise 360° a n d a l i g n the m a rks aga i n .
Loosen t h e holder bolts i n a g ra d u a l , crisscross
•
pattern.

piece of m echanic's wire to it to prevent it from d ropping
i nto the cra n kcase.
