Error Message
DX Lever Error The paper adjustment lever for
duplex printing is not correctly set
for the paper size.
Fuser Open The fuser cover is open.
Machine Error XX Machine has a mechanical
problem.
Out of Memory You can't store data in the
memory.
No The number you dialed does not
Response/Busy answer or is busy.
Not You tried to access a One-Touch
Registered or Speed-Dial number that is not
programmed.
PLS Open Cover A page, piece of paper or paper
clip, etc. may be jammed inside
the machine.
MFC-8420/8820D/8820DN, DCP-8020/8025D/8025DN
Cause
Set the duplex lever to the correct
position.
Please close the jam clear cover.
(See Paper Jam on page 6-13.)

the "MACHINE ERROR X X"
message'.

Press Stop button and wait until the
other operations in progress finish
and then try again.

Reduce print resolution.

Verify the number and try again.
Set up the One-Touch or Speed-
Dial number.
Open the front cover. If you see
any jammed paper or other item,
gently pull it out, then close the
front cover. If the error message
remains, open and close the front
cover again. If the machine cannot
reset itself and return to the date
and time prompt, it will display
Machine Error XX.
Refer to

message'.
