Using the Telstra Orb

Menu colour

to Settings
1. Press MENU then scroll

to Menu Colour.
4. Press SELECT and scroll

colour Blue, Orange or Pink.
5. Press SELECT to use the colour.
7. Press BACK to return to menu or press

return to stand-by mode.

Screensaver

The screensaver displays a clock face plus the time
and date. The screensaver comes on when the
backlight goes off and will only appear when your
handset is in stand-by mode.

To set Screensaver

to Settings
1. Press MENU then scroll

and press SELECT.
2. Press SELECT to choose Handset Settings.
3.Scroll
or
to Screensaver.
to Clock or
4. Press SELECT and scroll
or
Off.
5. Press SELECT to confirm.
6. Press BACK to return to menu or press
to
return to stand-by mode.
Light Timeout
You can set how long the backlight stays on – 15,
30 or 45 seconds.
NOTE: The default setting is 30 seconds

To set Light Timeout

1. Press MENU then scroll

Text Messaging (SMS)
Your Telstra Orb cordless phone can send text
messages to and receive text messages from
compatible mobile telephones and compatible
fixed line telephones in Australia.
In accordance with worldwide standards for
text messaging, all messages (including reply
messages) will display the telephone number
of the sender. If you have a Silent Line or have
blocked Calling Line Identification and attempt
to send a message, your message will be rejected.
To alter your service so that you can send text
messages, call the Telstra Fixed Phone text service
on 0198339999 and use the setup menu to turn off
Silent Line or Calling Line Identification blocking
for text messaging ONLY.
NOTE: For information on how to use Telstra text
messaging service call 0198339999 and follow the
voice prompts.
You can create up to 4 extra text message mail
boxes, Box 1 to Box 4, and protect each box with a
password.
In order to send and receive text messages, there
must be at least one general text message mailbox
0.
Mailbox 0 with an empty password is created
by default. For more information, please refer to
"Mailboxes" on page 63.
Your Telstra Orb can store up to 50 text messages
in the inboxes, draft folders, and outboxes. You can
set the maximum length of each message - either
160 characters or 612 characters (see page 65 for
further details).
