Policy Reference Guide
This rule specifies the maximum size (in bytes) of an attachment that a BlackBerry® device user can send from a BlackBerry
device. This rule controls attachments that are larger than 60 KB, which is the maximum amount of data that a device can send
to a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server in one data package. The permitted range is 0 through 3 MB.
Default value
The default value is 3145728 bytes (3 MB).
Usage
If you set this rule to 0, the device cannot send any attachments that are larger than 60 KB. The device can send attachments
that are smaller than 60 KB (for example, a vCard® or small image). The device compresses attachments that are smaller than
60 KB and includes the attachments in the message body.
In BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0 or later, this rule interacts with the Maximum single attachment upload size (KB) field in the
BlackBerry Administration Service. In BlackBerry Enterprise Server versions earlier than version 5.0, this rule interacts with the
Maximum Upload Attachment Size field in the BlackBerry Manager. If you configure the fields, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server
sends the values to the device using service books. The device cannot send an attachment that exceeds the size that you specify
in the fields.
If you change the value of Maximum single attachment upload size (KB) field or the Maximum Upload Attachment Size field to
0, the device cannot upload any attachments that are larger than 60 KB.
