Why line #1 does not pick up first on 1070 4-Line small business system

Line #1 may not pick up first on the AT&T 1070 if the prime line is set to a different line. The prime line is the one the phone selects automatically when lifting the handset or pressing [SPEAKER] or [HEADSET]. You can change the prime line setting in the phone's programming menu.

    Introduction This AT&T Small Business System is expandable to a 16-extension telephone system. The 1070 telephone is compatible with the 1040 and 1080 telephones. For details, see the installation guide. This system is not compatible with any other AT&T 4-line small business telephones, except for the 1040 and 1080 telephones.

You can use a total of 16 1080/1070/1040 phones together as extensions in your phone system. Each individual phone in your telephone system MUST be assigned a unique extension number for the intercom feature to work.

If the sets receive AC power at the same time, either at initial installation or after a power failure, the extension numbers might be the same.
