WRONG:
Shoulder belt too far
off shoulder
The correct headrest position is achieved when the vehicle's shoulder belt is
positioned at the center of child's shoulder (Fig. 53).

Check that child is properly restrained:
- Lap and shoulder belt must be snugly adjusted.
- Lap belt must be snuggly adjusted and low on hips, contacting thighs.
- Shoulder belt snugly adjusted, contacting chest, belt guide at or above
shoulder, and centered on shoulder.
- Child must be sitting upright in car seat.
- Vehicle belts must be properly routed under arm rests and through
shoulder belt guide.
- Periodically monitor the vehicle belts. Check that they are not twisted and
that the vehicle buckle is correctly secured.
Do not allow child to place the shoulder belt under the arm or behind the
back.

CORRECT:
Shoulder belt on shoulder
To adjust the headrest height, grasp the height
adjustment handle on the back of the headrest
(Fig. 54, No. 1) and pull it out gently and then
raise or lower the headrest to center shoulder
belt on child's shoulder (Fig. 54, No. 2).
Check that the head rest is securely locked,
gently push down on headrest.
