Table 8: Start-up problems
The library does not power on.
The library or tape drives are not
detected by the Interface Manager or
Command View ESL software.
During initialization, the library reports
"not ready."
One or more tape drives fail to spin up
during start-up.

Corrective Action
Verify that:
The power cord is connected to a
grounded electrical outlet.
The power distribution unit's two
breaker switches are on (left rear
corner of cabinet).
The power supply switches are on.
The power switch behind the service
tray is on.
Verify cable connections and
termination.
Verify the cabling.
Verify that the drives and library are
powered on and ready.
Ensure that the interface controllers
are powered on and ready.
Determine the failure type by
checking any previous error codes
returned to the host computer, or by
getting a library support ticket.
Correct the cause of the error.
Verify cable connections and
termination.
Make sure the OCP does not show
the drive power as off.
Check that the power supplies are
switched on for that level (clusters
0 - 5).
Check that the cluster controller is
properly cabled and ready.
