PEN AND DIGITAL INK CAPABILITIES IN WINDOWS

Windows 8 provides extensive support for your pen input. Features include:
Note taking. Jot notes and quick sketches in Windows Journal. Use the Journal search engine to locate
your handwritten content.
Handwriting recognition. Enter handwritten information in any location that can accept typed input.
Convert your handwritten content to typed text at any time.
Digital Ink in Microsoft Office. Utilize the digital mark-up and inking tools found on the R
applicable applications.
To open Windows Journal in Windows 8:
1. Select Search from the Charms bar on the Start screen.
2. Enter "Windows Journal" in the Search box on the right side of the screen.
3. Select the Windows Journal box when it appears on the left side of the screen.

USING THE EXPRESSKEYS, ROCKER RING, AND WINDOWS BUTTON

Use the ExpressKeys and Rocker Ring to perform frequently used functions or keystrokes, or to modify
your pen or other input tool properties as you work.
Use the Windows Button to toggle between the Windows 8 standard desktop and the Start screen.
Use the four positions of the Rocker Ring (left, right, top and bottom) for customizing, just as would the
ExpressKeys. For example, you can:
Set a key to a commonly used keyboard shortcut, file or application.
If you cannot, or prefer not to, use the side switches on your pen, set a key to right-click or double-
click.
