    Introduction This StarTech.com SATSASBAY425 4-Drive Removable SAS/SATA Backplane/Mobile Rack offers a convenient and efficient way to maximize the storage density of your PC or Server. The backplane can hold up to four 2.5” SAS and/or SATA hard drives (9.5mm, 12.5mm, or 14.8mm thick) in a single 5.25in drive bay.

    Open an unused 5.25” external bay in the computer case. Slide the SATSASBAY425 into the 5.25” bay, per the installation instructions for the computer system/case and secure to the frame. Connect an LP4 molex power connector from the computer power supply to the power connector on the rear of the backplane.
  • Page 7 Remove the drive trays from the backplane by pressing the colored tray release latch to the left and swing it open. Pull the drive trays out of the backplane. If using a 9.5mm height drive, then the top of the drive tray does not need to be removed.

    Slide the drive trays back into the backplane and lock the trays in place by closing the swing handle and making sure the latch locks properly. Driver Installation No driver installation is required for any operating system, as a backplane is a pass-through device, so will not visible to the computer system.
