USING ALL-WHEEL DRIVE

Note: When recovering an all-wheel drive
vehicle, you must have all wheels either on
or off the ground. See Towing the Vehicle
on Four Wheels (page 134).
If the system malfunctions, you will see a
message in the information display. See
Information Messages (page 68). Have
your vehicle checked by an authorized
dealer.

Automatic Mode

The all-wheel drive system, fitted to
certain rear-wheel drive models, will
automatically distribute driving torque to
the front wheels according to the road
conditions and engine load. Automatic
mode is suitable for most conditions.

All-Wheel Drive

The electronic stability control system will
automatically enter a reduced operating
mode and enhance the available engine
torque. The electronic stability control off
warning will appear in the information
display. The anti-lock braking system and
traction control continue to operate fully.
In all-wheel drive lock mode the increased
torque applied to the front axle, in
conjunction with full engine torque will give
maximum traction to the driver. Use this
mode in certain conditions; for example in
deep sand or snow.
Press the all-wheel drive lock button again
to return to the automatic mode.
