SAFETY TRAINING INFORMATION

Your Icom radio generates RF electromagnetic
energy during transmit mode. This radio is de-
signed for and classified as "Occupational Use
Only", meaning it must be used only during the
course of employment by individuals aware of the
W ARN ING
hazards, and the ways to minimize such hazards.
This radio is NOT intended for use by the "General
Population" in an uncontrolled environment.
• For complance wth FCC and Industry Canada RF Exposure Re-
qurements, the transmtter antenna nstallaton shall comply wth
the followng two condtons:
1. The transmtter antenna gan shall not exceed 0 dB.
2. IC-F5061/F5061D:
The antenna s requred to be located outsde of a vehcle and
kept at a dstance of 48 centmeters or more between the trans-
mttng antenna of ths devce and any persons durng operaton.
For small vehcle as worst case, the antenna shall be located on
the roof top at any place on the centre lne along the vehcle n
order to acheve 48 centmeters separaton dstance. In order to
ensure ths dstance s met, the nstallaton of the antenna must
be mounted at least 48 centmeters away from the nearest edge
of the vehcle n order to protect aganst exposure to bystanders.
2. IC-F6061/F6061D:
The antenna s requred to be located outsde of a vehcle and
kept at a dstance of 38 centmeters or more between the trans-
mttng antenna of ths devce and any persons durng operaton.

To ensure that your exposure to RF electromag-
netic energy is within the FCC allowable limits for
occupational use, always adhere to the following
guidelines:
C AU TIO N
• DO NOT operate the rado wthout a proper antenna attached,
as ths may damage the rado and may also cause you to exceed
FCC RF exposure lmts. A proper antenna s the antenna suppled
wth ths rado by the manufacturer or an antenna specfically au-
thorzed by the manufacturer for use wth ths rado.
• DO NOT transmt for more than 50% of total rado use tme ("50%
duty cycle"). Transmttng more than 50% of the tme can cause
FCC RF exposure complance requrements to be exceeded. The
rado s transmttng when the "TX ndcator" lghts red. You can
cause the rado to transmt by pressng the "PTT" swtch.
Electromagnetic Interference/Compatibility
Durng transmssons, your Icom rado generates RF energy that can
possbly cause nterference wth other devces or systems. To avod
such nterference, turn off the rado n areas where sgns are posted
to do so. DO NOT operate the transmtter n areas that are senstve
to electromagnetc radaton such as hosptals, arcraft, and blastng
stes.
