Engine control system (EOBD)
The EOBD (European On Board
Diagnosis) system fitted on the car
conforms with the 98/69/EC (EURO 3)
and 1999/102/EC Directives.
This system continuously monitors the
components of the vehicle related to
emissions; it also warns the user about
the deterioration condition of the
components themselves, by means of
U
the warning light
on the
instrument panel.
The objective is the following:
– keep system efficiency under control
– indicate when a problem causes an
increase in emissions exceeding the
5
threshold established by European
regulations
– indicate the need for replacement of
deteriorated components.

Use of the engine
In addition, the system includes a
diagnostics connector that can be
interfaced with suitable instruments.
This makes it possible to read the error
codes stored in the control unit,
together with a set of specific
parameters for engine operation
diagnostics.
WARNING When the ignition key is
turned to the MAR position, if the
warning light does not switch on or if
it switches on while driving, contact
the Maserati Service Network as soon
as possible.
WARNING After the problem has been
eliminated, the Maserati Service
Network personnel is required to
perform tests on the test bench for a
complete check of the system and if
necessary, also road tests which may
also involve long distances.
