STARTING THE ENGINE WITH JUMPER CABLES

If the batter is weak or dead, the battery from another vehicle can be used with jumper cables to start the engine.

Discharged battery

(1) The + terminal of the discharged battery

(2) The + terminal of the booster battery

(3) The - terminal of the booster battery
(4) Connect one end of the other jumper cable to the body

of the discharged vehicle, such as the engine block or
a front towing hook.

Booster battery
The positive (+) cable to the positive
(+) terminal.
The minus (–) cable to the minus (–)
terminal.
Be sure to observe the connecting se-
quence specified below.
CAUTION
• Start the engine of the booster vehicle af-
ter connecting the cables.
• Be careful not to have the jumper cable
caught in the cooling fan.
