Cleaning and heating up for the first time

^ Press the multii-function selector to confirm your selection.

^ Turn the multi-function selector clockwise until the water
hardness setting you want, e.g. Hard 3, is highlighted in the
display.
^ Press the multii-function selector to confirm your selection.
^ Now turn the multi-function selector anti-clockwise to
"Back", confirm this selection and switch the appliance off
by pressing the On/Off switch (on the left).
Take the steam generator out of the appliance and remove
the insert (see "Cleaning and care"). Rinse the steam
generator and the insert thoroughly by hand using hot water.
Do not use any washing-up liquid or detergent.
Do not clean the steam generator or the insert in a
dishwasher. Do not immerse the steam generator in water.
Now fill the steam generator with mains tap water (see
"Before each use") and then run the Cook Universal (100 °C)
programme for 15 minutes. Proceed as described in
"Operation".
This process flushes out the waterways and sets the
appliance for the altitude in your area.
If you move house, the appliance will need to be re-set for
the new altitude if this differs from the old one by more than
300 m. To do this, descale the appliance (see "Cleaning and
care").
Warning! A lot of steam will be emitted from the appliance the
first time it is used, and the first time it is descaled after
moving house.
